John Ward and John Chavis to speak
at Big Orange Football Warmup

University of Tennessee football fanatics will have a chance to hear the former "Voice of the Vols" John Ward and current Associate Head Coach John Chavis speak at the seventh annual Big Orange Football Warmup and More.

This non-credit course offered by UT's Department of Professional and Personal Development on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 gives fans a chance to get ready for football season.

The fee is $59, and the class is held from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Both class sessions will be held in the Wolf-Kaplan Lounge, the hospitality suite on the ground floor of Neyland Stadium.

Special guests include:

John Chavis, who is making his first appearance at the Big Orange Football Warm-up, and will be the kickoff speaker. Chavis has been with the Vols since 1989 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2005.

Legendary retired Vols broadcaster John Ward, a member of the Sports Hall of Fame who was named the state's Sportscaster of the Year 28 times.

Former Vol great and NFL stalwart Tim Irwin, who is now Knox County Juvenile Court Judge.

Dewey Warren, former UT quarterback and colorful broadcaster.

Moderators for the class include Haywood Harris, a longtime Vol publicist, historian and author; and Don K. Ferguson, author and News Sentinel grammar and history columnist.
