Why Do I Need to Install the Authorware Plugin?
The tests in this workbook were created with a program called Authorware. Authorware is a high-end, intuitive software that allows programmers to create online, interactive applications. In order for you to use the tests on this site you'll need the Authorware Web Player Plugin. The plugin is an addition to your browser that will allow you take full advantage of NJATC's tests on this site. 

Why Would I Remove A Previously Installed Copy of the Authorware Plugin?
If you have previously installed version of the Authorware Web Player, you may be unable to successfully log into the Math Test. If you have problems logging in check if a previously installed copy of the software is on your computer. 

Below is information on how to install the Authorware Web Player Plugin as well how to delete or uninstall an older or damaged version of the plugin.

Remember you MUST use Microsoft's Internet Explorer in conjunction with this Authorware Web Player in order to properly see the test.  If you encounter problems please feel free to call us at (865) 974-02721, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern).

Installing the Authorware Web Player Plugin 
using Microsoft's Internet Explorer

1. Make sure you're viewing this page using Microsoft's Internet Explorer as your browser

2. Click here to download the Authorware Web Player Plugin 

   • the plugin is about 4.5Mb (size) and will take about 27 minutes to download on a 28.8kbps modem

   1. First, you'll see this screen

1. as shown select
   "Install Now"

2. After clicking Install Now you'll see this screen

• The SECURITY WARNING window will now open automatically.  There may be a pause for as long as 15 minutes before it opens, depending on the speed and clarity of your internet connection.

3. The SECURITY WARNING window looks like this.

• Click "YES" to continue The SECURITY WARNING window will now disappear.

4. The download and installation of Authorware Web Player 6.0 is automatic from this point.  This process can take up to an hour over a slow connection.  When the download and installation are complete, you will see a screen that looks like this:

5. The Installation of Authorware is now complete.  You may close your browser window or return to the Workbook login page.

Removing Previously Installed Versions of 
Authorware Web Player from Your Computer

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. At the top of the Internet Explorer window click on TOOLS

3. A menu will open

4. Scroll down that menu to INTERNET OPTIONS...

5. A screen with tabs will appear 

6. Make sure the GENERAL tab has been picked

7. GENERAL is divided into 3 sections:

   1. Home page

   2. Temporary Internet files

   3. History

   

8. In the center section, TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, click on the button that's labeled SETTINGS...

9. A screen will appear labeled SETTINGS.

   

10. Towards the bottom of the screen, on the right side you'll find a button labeled VIEW OBJECTS... click it

11. A window will open labeled DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES

    

12. In this window you'll see all the programs you have downloaded. Look through the list of programs for MACROMEDIA AUTHORWARE ACTIVEX CONTROL (or something similar). 

13. To delete MACROMEDIA AUTHORWARE ACTIVEX CONTROL 

    1. place your cursor over the file 

    2. right-click on the file (click the button on the right side of your mouse)

    3. a menu will appear

       1. Update

       2. REMOVE

       3. Properties

    4. click on REMOVE
