Introduction
These courses have been made available through the efforts of the National Joint Apprenticeship
and Training Committee (NJATC) for the Electrical Industry. The NJATC is jointly sponsored
by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood
of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The University of Tennessee, Distance Education and Independent
Study (DEIS) is the host of this on-line site.
This course is designed as a math review. It is not a study of
electrical theory or any specific topic covered in apprenticeship. It is
in addition to the minimum classroom hours required for apprenticeship.
It is designed to refresh math skills and to prepare the Journeyman or
apprentice for the study of electrical theory, conduit fabrication, code
calculations and other job skills which allow our members to be successful,
productive and gainfully employed.
The NJATC DC Theory On-Line Course offers an inexpensive solution, providing a simpler
process of participating in a full-blown DC theory course while not
requiring attendance in a formal classroom setting. Individuals can now go
on-line, register for the DC Theory course and complete it at their own pace
from the convenience of a computer connected to the Internet.
