Do I need a particular browser or special plug-in to take a test?

YES. Good question!

In order to take the test you'll need

  1. Browser: Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher 
  2. Plug-in: the Authorware Web Player.

If you don't already have Microsoft's Internet Explorer click here to go to Microsoft's download site to download the install file onto your computer.  The Microsoft site will give you full installation instructions. 

To get the correct Authorware Web Player plug-in for this course click here. If you encounter problems installing this plug-in 

  1. read over the installation instructions and/or

I'm using AOL, can I still use the Workbook?

YES

Users of America Online, please note: This software has been tested with AOL Version 5.0 and 6.0. After loading the Authorware Web Player, you may see a blank screen when selecting the “Workbook” button at www.njatc.utk.edu. If so, check your Windows' Task Bar (usually located at the bottom of your screen) for a new minimized window. By clicking the appropriate minimized window, you will discover a futuristic screen that is the workbook material you need.

Why do I have to login each time I return to the workbook from the 'HELP' page?


Sometimes the 'HELP' page will load into the same browser window as the 'WORKBOOK' program. When this happens you'll need to login again in order to return to the workbook. 

  • This may occur if you're using Microsoft's Internet Explorer with the wrong version of the Authorware Web Player.

  • To correct this problem, download and install the latest Authorware Web Player for your browser.

NOTE: You may need to lower the security settings of your browser in order to correctly install the web player plug-in.  If you need help doing this call us (865) 974-0272.

I don't have a username or password, how do I get one?

In order to participate in the online test, you must register with the NJATC.

  1. You can register online or 

  2. via phone.

I registered with the NJATC to take math the test, but my username and password don't work.
  1. Please check the spelling of your name and password.

  2. Make sure that you use upper-case or capital letters where necessary.

I didn't finished the test andI lost my Internet connection. Can I still complete the test?

YES.

Log in again from the beginning, the test will automatically resume at the point where your connection to the Internet was lost. 

Your login information will be valid until you complete the test in its entirety.

What formats are acceptable for my answers?

Use ONLY NUMBERS in your answers. Alphanumeric characters and punctuation are not acceptable (except for decimal points).

Is there a time limit on the test?

There is no time limit, but the amount of time you spend on each question will be recorded and shown on the final grade sheet. If you must leave the computer at any time during the test, the time will be shown. Please keep this in mind when taking breaks, talking on the phone, etc.

Can I use a calculator?

YES. It is best to have your own calculator, however, if you need to you can use the calculator that comes with your computer through Microsoft Windows.

  1. in the lower left-hand corner click on START

  2. a menu will appear

  3. on this menu click on PROGRAMS

  4. look for ACCESSORIES

  5. in ACCESSORIES look for CALCULATOR

  6. this will bring up the regular calculator

  7. to use the scientific calculator

    1. click on View

    2. a menu will open

    3. scroll down and select Scientific (as shown in the image below).

How do I get my test results?
  • You must complete the test before you can check your results.

  • After the test you'll be asked to enter Username and Password 

  • The summary of your test results will appear.
