Peter Goodmann is the manager of the Kentucky’s Division of Water’s Groundwater and Watershed Management programs.
He is responsible for overseeing the implementation of Kentucky’s watershed management efforts, including the nonpoint source pollution control program and Clean Water Act §319 grants, watershed planning efforts, the water withdrawal permit and the water supply planning programs, including the wellhead and source water protection, ground water protection, the water well driller certification and well construction standards, karst research and mapping projects, and the statewide ambient ground water monitoring program.
Mr. Goodmann advises the cabinet on technical and policy issues related to watersheds and groundwater, and develops statutes, regulations and strategies regarding watersheds, ground water management and related issues, including agriculture water quality issues.
Mr. Goodmann has worked for the Department for Environmental Protection for 15 years, and has been a manager in the Division of Water for more than 12 years.
He earned his B.S. in Geology from the University of Iowa (1983), his M.A. in Geology from Temple University (1986), and conducted other post-graduate work at the University of Kentucky, where he was a Chevron fellow.
