Nancy is a senior attorney and the Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Clean Water Project.
She has 15 years of experience using the Clean Water Act to protect rivers, lakes, and coastal waters from contaminated stormwater, sewer overflows, factory farms, and other sources of water pollution. Nancy is a national expert in Clean Water Act legal and policy issues and is also working to clean up the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Stoner has been with NRDC since October 1999. From 1997-99, Nancy was the Director of the Office of Planning and Policy Analysis in U.S. EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. She was a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment & Natural Resources Division before that.
She earned her J.D. from Yale University Law School in 1986 and B.A. in 1982 from the University of Virginia. She is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.
