
Mike Cochrane
Mr. Cochrane manages Gresham, Smith and Partners’, Land Planning and Design Division in Nashville, Tenn., which is comprised of 38 engineers, planners, landscape architects and technicians.
Mr. Cochrane has more than 25 years of experience as a civil engineer managing and designing site developments, utilities, transportation corridors, airport infrastructure and storm water improvements. His responsibilities include managing large, complex design projects and conducting quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities.
His qualifications also include a thorough knowledge of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting regulations, wetland evaluations, small flow treatment, modeling programs (such as HEC-1, HEC-RAS, KY PIPE, TR-55, and POND 2), and familiarity with local, state and federal laws.
He has been the Project Manager on numerous development projects involving hydraulic analysis for drainage detention and sediment/erosion control. His work has included relocation and re-channeling of channels; riprap design; environmental mitigation; and design of various detention and retention structures and spillways, including weirs, riser pipes, and channels.
Mr. Cochrane is experienced in sanitary sewerage, storm water detention, and grading design for land developments. He is proficient at engineering design, coordination of installation, and the documentation of large and small bore pipe and pipe supports according to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, and is experienced in the start-up and testing of mechanical systems.
