Claude Stephens

Claude Stephens is the Education Director at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest and a founding partner in Generation 14, a sustainability consulting company.

With an academic background in evolutionary ecology, Claude has 23 years of experience in informal education including zoos, historic properties and arboretums.

From a life-long interest in sustainable and nature-based design, Claude has managed projects that include the appropriate use of emerging technologies, the development of environmentally intelligent buildings and efficient resource management. He has developed numerous programs, exhibits and informal educational services for youth and adults in conservation, preservation and community design.

In addition to his professional work, Claude is a working artist, writer, dance caller, tree house builder, gardener, urban chicken farmer and supporter of organizations and actions that encourage wise environmental and community design concepts. He has served on numerous boards and governing bodies for environmental and arts organizations and has been committed to sustainable communities for more than 25 years.
