Green Development: Good for Water and the Bottom Line

Bob Berkebile is a principal of BNIM Architects and the founding chair of the American Institute of Architect's (AIA) Committee on the Environment.

Mr. Berkebile leads BNIM’s sustainable design work on a variety of diverse projects, including a 3,000-acre development in north Charleston, South Carolina, and the School of Nursing and Student Center at the University of Texas at Houston, which received one of AIA’s “Top 10 Green Projects” awards for 2006.

Mr. Berkebile also notably delivered, on a standard state office building budget, the LEED™ Platinum-certified headquarters for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. His efforts to set new design standards for resource efficiency at the building and community scales have made him a popular figure in sustainable design.
