White Avenue Classroom

The White Avenue classroom is a videotape-only facility. Unlike the 321 classrooms, the producer is located in the same room as the class. Because of this, communication between the instructor and producer can be more immediate.

CAMERAS
There is one camera in the White Avenue classroom. This camera is used to view the instuctor, the white board, and students. It is located in the instructor's direct line of sight at the rear of the classroom.

MONITORS
There are two monitors in the classroom. The students view the monitor at the side of the instructor's desk. The instructor can view the monitor located in the rear of the room, beside the producer's area.

MICROPHONES
The instructor uses a wireless microphone in the White Avenue classroom. Audio levels are controlled by the producer in the rear of the classroom.

The student mics are mounted above the students in the ceiling. Students are automatically picked up by the mic as soon as the producer turns the level up. They do not need to speak "upward" but they DO need to speak loudly.

INSTRUCTOR'S DESK
The instructor's desk is equipped with an overhead presentation device called an ELMO. Video from the ELMO is switched onto Program from the producer's area in the rear of the classroom. Instructor's must adjust the placement, focus, and zoom on the ELMO as the producers have no control over those features.

CLASSROOM COMPUTERS
The White Avenue classroom is equipped with a Dell 400MHz PC. An Internet connect is provided, as well as PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and your choice of web browsers. The computer is connected to a scan converter. The computer screen can then be sent directly to Program (similar to the ELMO).
