Location:

As a department within the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TeleMedia Services Group is located on the main campus at 321 Communications Building -- located next to the Student Services Building. This is also the site of our two teleclassrooms, in which, 321B has been recently converted into a computer enriched classroom for synchronous course delivery. We also operate equipment for special events at the UT Conference Center on Henley Street in downtown Knoxville.

Teleclassrooms

Telemedia Services Group offers several facilities for rent. The teleclassrooms in 321 Communications Building may be scheduled. Each classroom is equipped with seating for 31 people (including one handicap-accessable seat in each room). The partition dividing 321 A and B can be removed to allow for large meetings.

The teleclassrooms offer videotaping and duplication services. Presentation media in each classroom include:

1) A 400 MHz Dell computer loaded with Microsoft Windows 98 (includes Office Suite, Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator). These computers have a constant Internet connection -- allowing for remote web page access and other Internet-based activities. If you have special computing needs or would like to hook your personal laptop up to our display system, please let us know when you request the room.
2) An overhead camera is available to display overhead slides. This camera does not require transparencies.
3) We offer a video-ready slide projector for your use. The projector displays on our 7 classroom monitors and can be seen by far sites and on videotape. No image is actually projected onto the wall or a screen. Otherwise the machine works like a normal slide projector. We request you bring your own slide tray or let us know in advance that you will need one.
4) Our whiteboards are located behind the curtains at the front of each classroom. We provide whiteboard-safe markers and erasers.
5) Lastly, videotapes can be displayed on classroom monitors by your producer. Please let us know when you arrive if you will need to show a tape and have the tape forwarded or rewound to the starting point.

Conference Center

The UT Conference Center is a large facility used for activities such as group meetings, certification testing, and group training. The Conference Center computer labs were recently upgraded to 400 MHz machines with Ethernet connections to the Internet. Two-way interactive videoconferencing is also available.
