TeleClassroom Video Production

As a student producer, you will affect the educational experience for three different groups of students, those in the teleclassroom, those at far-sites and tape only students. During other classes, only one or two of these groups will be affected by your work. As a producer, you will affect the educational experience by choosing what video sources are put on program and routed to classroom monitors and what audio sources and levels that you route to the classroom, far-site(s) and dub group(s).

The tape only students are the most dependent on your judgment. The other two groups will typically let the instructor know during the class if they are not hearing or seeing what is being presented.

One tape of each class is placed in the Reserve Room in Hodges Library for students to review and for students who were absent.

The quality of the video tapes you produce reflects the educational standards of the University of Tennessee. Producing professional tapes should, therefore, be your top priority.

The LOCAL / REMOTE button must be on, indicated by its yellow light, in order to operate the Control Unit.

Either Camera 1, 2 or 4 can then be selected by pushing one of the CAMERA buttons. The button number of the selected camera will light up. The two joy sticks allow you to Focus, Zoom In or Out, Pan and Tilt the selected camera.

When the ENTER / SHOT button is lit, the 16 SHOT buttons can be used to memorize any view of the selected camera you create with the joy sticks. When the ENTER / SHOT button is off (unlit), pushing a SHOT button will return the selected camera to the memorized view. With each of the three cameras' 16 shot options, a total of 48 views can be memorized.

Camera 3 is the Overhead Camera. It's controlled with a Fujinon RMD II above each 110 video switcher. This device can Zoom the lens In or Out, Focus it and Open and Close its Iris. It cannot Tilt or Pan.
