Ric received his B. S. in Sociology from the University of the State of New York in September 1989, and his M. S. in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University in July 1993. Mr. Lichtwardt has been TeleMedia Services Manager for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from July 1993 - May 2000 when he was selected as the Assistant Director for Educational Technology Operations. His responsibilities include the direct management of the Data Technology Group and Telemedia Services Group which include development and implementation of systems integration and operations plans for UTK distance education initiatives including the daily operation of the division server farm, e-mail system, web servers, and on-line courses, as well as two totally interactive teleclassrooms, and the faculty, student, and support facilities at UTK. He is senior convergent technology integration and management supervisor for The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, distance education digital telecommunications systems.
From 1973 through 1993, Mr. Lichtwardt served in the U. S. Army as Public Affairs Information Specialist/Broadcaster. His duties were in electronic communications management, from Reporter to Senior Media and Broadcast Management positions in Department of Defense Public Affairs initiatives and the American Forces Radio and Television Services' worldwide, Satellite Network. Served as Senior Television Instructor, Defense Information School (DINFOS), with final assignment as Public Affairs Officer, Defense Information School.
