Housing & Student Life
Housing and Food
ELI students who wish to live on-campus in a University dormitory must indicate so on their ELI applications. They will then be sent a housing application. Upon arrival, they must sign a housing contract for all or a portion of the academic year. If off-campus housing is preferred, the ELI offers limited assistance in finding accommodations. All students may purchase the University meal plan, which provides three meals per day during the semester for a very reasonable cost.

Student Life
The University of Tennessee's 19,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate students are a community of cultural diversity. Students have a large selection of extracurricular activities and many opportunities to make new friends. Approximately 300 campus organizations include sororities and fraternities, residence hall associations, recreational teams, political and religious organizations, and service groups.
Sports lovers can cheer on the several Volunteer athletic teams or participate in the extensive intramural sports and fitness programs. Facilities include two Olympic-sized pools, weights and Nautilus equipment, tennis courts, bowling lanes, sports fields, and an outdoor track. Students pay the University Programs and Services Fee, as do all UTK students, for use of these facilities.
International House serves as a meeting place for all UTK students to further international communication. ELI students find its comfortable lounges and recreational areas an excellent place to practice English and make new friends.
